about

The late psychotic, cathartic household object noiser Nigel Joseph plays adapted guitar, effects, household reed instruments & kids’ toys. He has played live many times: in Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester, Newcastle, Limerick & Sheffield.

From Neil Campbell:
The Ceramic Hobs used to bore me senseless, but since they threw out their resident Beatles fan, Stan Batcow, they’ve improved immeasurably. Last time I saw them play they were on particularly fine form, largely due to how far forward in the mix a bloke playing an electronic plastic doll’s head and their wild-card guitarist Nigel Joseph were. Their usual lurching bricklayer gurn served mainly as a backdrop for all manner of squeals and broken glass string assaults, seemingly beamed in from some other dimension. Fantastic. And now Mr Joseph has produced “Radioactive Snuff”, a solo CD on Must Die Records of monumentally monged-out drugged-out bummed-out machine music that manages to be at once boring, over-long, oppressive AND life-affirmingly strange. Real weirdo music, made by a weirdo for weirdoes everywhere. Take the opening track, “Chlorpromazine dreams ” (there’s more than an undercurrent of prescription drug bad vibe throughout the CD, not least in titles like this) – it’s acid house slowed to a crawl , all burnt-out comedown, beautifully inhuman.

From Vital:
"Radioactive snuff" contains of six tracks. Some tracks belongs to the pure harsh noise scene with expressions built on adapted guitars, kid's toys and various household objects. Two of the tracks contains rhythmic textures: One is the upfront power noise track titled "Born lucky born dead too". The other one more belongs to the catchy atmospheric style. "Rooh's requiem" consists of catchy rhythms built on subtle noise and ambient soundscapes floating in the background. Overall the style of the album is minimal and repetitive textures. Very nice indeed.

From Igloo:
Get past the badly blinking porno arcade neon sign that welcomes you at the entrance to Radioactive Snuff by Nigel Joseph, and you make your way to a strangely attractive kind of rhythmic industrial music with repulsive titles but deceptively musical layers
